When we think of Valentine’s Day, we often think of red roses, chocolates, or little heart shaped candy. To me, most of these gifts seem to be rather short term and not always remembered after a few days. For example, cutting of poor helpless flowers can be beautiful for a day or two, but then they become all dried up and end up in the trash. Candy and chocolate…well, ok, I love chocolates, but then again you eat it all up and then feel guilty about it afterward.
So this year, I was thinking, why not try to give each other a more special gift that will bring years of pleasure (no, not babies!) and something that is also great for the environment. While I was looking around for great gift ideas, I came across this site “Trees and Plants for Valentine’s Day delivered (England, Scotland, Wales).” And I loved the concept!
Since I’m sure many of you don’t live in England, Scotland, or Wales, below is a quick list of some of my favorite flowers and trees which can be picked up at your local nursery. The best part of giving a plant as a gift is that each time you see it, it will remind you of that special Valentine’s day moment.
